Intentional Design Inc (IDI) is a consultancy that helps content-driven companies create and better manage their communication products. Our focus on performance improvement means that we begin with an analysis of your business goals and ensure that any improvements we make support those goals.

IDI operates in the interrelated areas of content development (technical writing, instructional, and business content for print and online delivery), user-centered design (business analysis, persona development, information architecture, and usability assessments), and single-sourcing of content using content management strategies. The IDI team brings substantial business and communication experience to the IDI projects, handling projects from requirements and content analysis phases, through to final deliverables.

IDI operates with a core group of consultant/contractors who handle projects from a multidisciplinary approach; contractors with specific expertise are brought in on an “as needed” basis when specialty skills are required. The IDI consultants have substantial experience before coming together under the umbrella of IDI. The ongoing relationship between the consultants/ contractors brings together the best qualities: the cohesiveness of a team, with the breadth of practice of practitioners with entrepreneurial drive.

Because IDI focuses on improving the performance of communications, the contractors focus on gaining a solid understanding of the business objectives – for the improvements to be effective, they must fulfill the business objectives that call for improvements to be made – and the users and their tasks – knowing how specific user groups interact with the system ensures that the technology functions efficiently and effectively.
